Ann has previously worked in the areas of education, addiction and mental health, early childhood trauma, concurrent disorders, domestic violence, and community development. A former resident of Windsor, Ontario; Ann has contributed to macro-based initiatives such as Pathway to Potential (Windsor-Essex County’s Poverty Reduction Strategy) in addition to participating in action-based research focusing on poverty and education. This work led to the development and completion of her Master’s thesis entitled, “­­­­­­­­­­­Curriculum-based intervention: Confronting poverty and related issues through a collaborative intra-organizational framework.” (Waddell-Makse, 2010)

Areas of special interest include: participatory action research, mental health and trauma, partner violence, gender identity, co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders, supplemental therapies, community development and poverty reduction.
